Youth Empowerment, Education, Security tops Maituta's agenda for Zamfara Central

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Zamfara Central Senatorial District, Dr. Sanusi Bala Turaki Maituta, has identified youth empowerment, quality education, and improved security as the key pillars of his agenda ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Maituta, who recently emerged as the sole PDP candidate for the senatorial district, said his aspiration is driven by a desire to address the pressing challenges confronting communities across Zamfara Central and deliver effective representation at the National Assembly.

Speaking during consultations with stakeholders and supporters across the district, the politician and philanthropist stressed that empowering young people remains central to his vision for sustainable development.

According to him, the future of Zamfara depends largely on creating opportunities for youths through skills acquisition programmes, entrepreneurship support, vocational training, and access to funding for small and medium-scale enterprises.

"Our young people are energetic, talented and capable. What they need is the right support, opportunities and enabling environment to succeed. Empowering them is not only an investment in their future but also in the future of our communities," he said.

Maituta also pledged to prioritise education, describing it as the foundation of social and economic progress. He noted that many communities in the district continue to face challenges related to access to quality education, inadequate learning facilities and limited opportunities for students pursuing higher education.

He promised to champion policies and initiatives that would improve educational infrastructure, expand scholarship programmes and support measures aimed at increasing school enrolment and reducing dropout rates.

The PDP candidate further expressed concern over the persistent security challenges affecting parts of Zamfara State, stating that peace and stability are essential for development.

He said he would work closely with relevant authorities, security agencies and community leaders to advocate stronger security measures, support community-based approaches to intelligence gathering and promote initiatives that address the root causes of insecurity.

"Security is the foundation upon which every other development effort rests. Our farmers must be able to return to their farms, traders must conduct their businesses without fear, and families must live in safety and dignity," he stated.

Maituta added that beyond the three priority areas, he would also focus on healthcare, infrastructure development, economic growth and social welfare if elected to represent the people of Zamfara Central in the Senate.

Political observers believe his emergence as the PDP candidate has added momentum to the senatorial contest, with many pointing to his background in public service, business and humanitarian activities as factors that could shape the race in the coming months.

As preparations for the 2027 elections gather pace, Maituta has called on residents of Zamfara Central to support a vision centred on inclusive development, effective representation and policies aimed at improving the living conditions of the people.
